ABOUT THE BUSINESS

What inspired you to start this business?
I was inspired to start my business several years before I did. I have always had a love of paper and stationery. A friend and I had taken a card making class at a local stationery shop and I thought, "I can do this!" I began making cards for family birthdays, of which there were many, as a way to save money. This went on for several years until one day, someone told I could sell my cards. That was the first seed. I had small kids at the time, so I waited until they were both in school full time and Keller Cards was born. That was nearly 9 years ago!
How does your faith shape your work?
When I started Keller Cards, I didn't consider it a "Catholic" business. In fact, nothing in my product line would have indicated that I was a Catholic. That is, until my husband's cousin asked me to make her some Spiritual Bouquet cards. I have to admit, I didn't even know what a Spiritual Bouquet was. So, after some conversation with my new client, and some further research, I made my first Catholic greeting cards, and they have been a best seller ever since! I also had a few friends who begged me to create greeting cards for Catholic sacraments and saints feast days. I sat on those requests for some time because I hadn't felt inspired creatively. I was happy with what I was doing, and it was working, so I stayed the course. A few years later, I finally felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to move my business more into the Catholic lane. I started receiving little inspirations for product ideas, and slowly began to incorporate them into my shop. Today, at least 75% of my assortment can be categorized as religious, or outwardly Catholic. Today, my faith inspires just about everything I create, wether it is a religious product or not. I see the world through my Catholic lens, thus, it touches every product I create in some way. I am most inspired during Mass and oftentimes as I am praying the rosary.
What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?
My favorite patron saint is St. Therese. My favorite scripture is Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..."
What's one thing you'd like customers to know?
I would like customers to know that I absolutely love creating products for them that help them live and share their faith through the simple gesture of giving a card. I strive to bring the beauty of the Catholic faith to life in a tangible and shareable way.
